Basic Principle

 

UF uses low pressure or flux as a driving force to remove impurities in the water. The UF membrane is typically in the form of spiral wound element or a tubular element made from H-PVDF polymer. The size of the pores is selective depending on user requirement and generally ranges from 0.001 to 0.1 micron.

When water passes through the UF membrane, any particles larger than the pores size will be retained and known as concentrate.
